Pankaj Advani Makes India Proud!

Today, India got one more reason to be proud of!!

Pankaj Advani, barely 24 years old and the Billiards ace of India won the World Professional Billiard Championship.
Advani became the second Indian to win the championship after Geet Sethi, who won in 2006. Advani won after defeating 9 times world champion Mike Russel of Qatar by a margin of 800 points! (A great win for India).
The scores were 2030-1253 at the end of the game. The best part of the championship is that in the Quarter finals there were Four Indians playing against other players and in the Semi finals there were There Indians out of 4 people!!
So, it shows that there are other sports which should be given importance other than Cricket in the country.
As soon as Advani returned home, honours have started pouring in for newly-crowned world professional billiards champion.
Chief minister of Karnataka B S Yeddyurappa, after returning from China, announced that Advani will be felicitated with a BDA site for his victory.
Advani said that the huge lead made him breathe easy. “I knew I had to stay on course and make sure the title is mine and I am happy I did just that.”
Lets hope that the government would think of improving the conditions of the other sports, at least after this news!!
