UN picks its YouTube “Citizen Ambassadors”

Google wrote on it’s CitizenTube blog, the United Nations has chosen it’s YouTube Citizen ambassadors, the winners were announced on October 16th.
On 23rd September, U.N. Ambassador George Clooney had asked citizens to post videos of “What they would say to the United Nations General Assembly?, if they were given the chance to do so” in order to be crowned as the Citizen Ambassadors. The U.N. received more than 475 videos to become a Citizen Ambassador to the UN.

The five winners are
1. Emily Troutman of United States with the message “Every day I want you to wake up and know that you work for 6.7 billion real people, one person at a time. People with children, and dreams, and stories.“

The winners have been invited to visit U.N. Headquarters in New York to meet Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on U.N. Day, October 24th.
This contest will be carried out in other countries as well, with a series of activities that include an outreach event involving 500 students in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, A photo exhibition in Bogota, Colombia and a series of lectures aimed at more than 800 students in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
